Friends of the Walk for Peace!
We’ve decided to alter the route to keep people safe on icy sidewalks. Over the past few days I have watched pedestrians navigate piles of snow and ice blocking the sidewalks on High Street. The weather forecast makes me think these piles will only get more treacherous as they thaw and refreeze over night. In short, it is not safe or realistic to traverse miles of these piles!
The new route will follow the Olentangy Trail, which has been fully cleared of snow. The walk won’t be as public or visible, but I think it will still be meaningful to gather in our goodwill for our neighbors! One downside is that getting back to your parking place by bus will not be as easy. If anyone would prefer to park downtown to meet us at the Statehouse and offer rides back, that would be welcome! Please let me know. We can also support those who need assistance paying for a Lyft. I have included details about parking below.
