Where: St. Mark's Masonic Temple No. 7 (Corner of E. Long & Miami)
Time: 10:00 AM Line-Up | 11:00 AM Caravan Begins

In a powerful show of community solidarity and commitment to civic duty, the Ohio Unity Coalition, in partnership with several community partners, proudly presents "Caravan to The Polls," a pivotal event aimed at fostering voter engagement and turnout. This community-focused initiative will take place on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, at St. Mark's Masonic Temple No. 7 located at the corner of E. Long Street and Miami Avenue.

The event promises to be an inspiring collective effort encouraging community members to exercise their right to vote. The caravan will line up at 10:00 AM, and will kick off promptly at 11:00 AM, uniting participants in a symbolic journey towards fulfilling a crucial democratic responsibility.

Carry Smith wrote her PhD thesis on the Voting Rights Act and challenges to the right to vote in Georgia.

Now dig this: Smith, the expert on challenges to voting rights, lost her vote because a Republican vigilante challenged her registration—along with 900 other Savannah voters—until she was forced to make an appearance proving her right to vote at a meeting of the Chatham County (Savannah) elections board.

Half of the others challenged still lost their vote in this do-or-die battleground.

Adrian Consonery Jr. was also challenged, in this case, by officials in Cobb County, Georgia. The elections officers claimed that the signature on his drivers license “didn’t match” the signature on his ballot. Were these local pols forgery specialists?  No, they were Republicans. No problem, they told Consonery, a student in the middle of his finals; all he had to do was drive to their offices, eight hours away, and re-sign his ballot.

Maga hat

I expose MAGA hypocrisy on everything from abortion, the ten commandments and the deficit to poverty, gun control and immigration.

I've heard you MAGAs. Unlike me-first Americans, you aren't driven by the desire for prosperity and personal recognition. What motivates you are your deeply held beliefs and patriotic fervor, or so you say. Well, I'm not convinced. I don't believe your convictions are as strong as you claim. I think you often say one thing, do another and act like hypocrites.

Take, for instance, those of you who are religious. You say your goal as Evangelicals is to promote biblical ideals. But your leader is Donald Trump and his conduct has been about as unbiblical as it can get. He's abused, betrayed, cheated, coerced, deceived, harassed and threatened “friends,” acquaintances, business cronies, supporters, adversaries, relatives, mistresses, and wives.

I know. You religious MAGAs don't like being called hypocrites. Here's my advice. Find a leader who keeps at least one of the Ten Commandments before you have them displayed in public school classrooms across the US.

Shayla and man

Democrat and City of Columbus councilmember Shayla Favor is on the precipice of making history. Favor is about to become the first African American and woman to lead the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, and the first Black woman in the state to hold this position.

And not a moment too soon. In a recent interview with WOSU, she said she will hire more people of color. No doubt the lack of diversity in the Prosecutor’s Office, which is being vacated by Democrat Gary Tyack, is confounding. Out of 130 attorneys, only 11 are minorities.

Favor as many know is aligned with Columbus’s “establishment Dems.” Former Mayor Michael Coleman was on stage with her when she announced her candidacy.

She should win handedly against her Republican opponent, John Rutan, who is candid about his own past criminal behavior, as he served time in jail for assault when he was in college. He also told WOSU: “God gave us the death penalty to utilize for evil spirits…And so I’d use them all day long.”
