Dear Free Press:

"Stay In Bed" by Daniel Patrick Welch, though admirable in its sentiments, is not a worthy article. Do you print anything that's submitted?

He uses the word "thing" SEVEN times. The article is a grammatical joke. It jerks the reader around. It is self-important, vague, contradictory and garbled as hell, and in general says nothing! This is Comp 101 -- "My Jumbled Feelings about the California Recall" And since it reminds me of a student effort, I'm going to red- pencil it. This stuff is utter crap.

Daniel Patrick Welch should stay in bed next time he gets the urge to write!!!!

I understand that the people of California are upset. Increased taxes and a plummeting job market coupled with the non-personal robotics of recalled Gov. Gray Davis gave Californians a reason to exercise anger in the democratic forum. But as Americans tend to do, they blew it at the polls. They elected a frickin’ Neanderthal movie star who’s career has declined steadily with the likes of Dustin Diamond and Kris Kross. Doesn’t this sound weird to anyone?

Doesn’t anyone remember Arnold Schwarzenegger’s one-liner: “I’ll be back.” Of course you do. That’s because it’s all he’s ever had to say. Let’s just bypass the fact that The Terminator Grope Master was installed by the Bush Administration to secure control over the last of four most populace states to be conquered (Florida, New York and Texas are the others), and take this for what it is, Californians electing him because “it would be neat”!

When we think of the word "terrorism" we think of the events of 9/11 or the ongoing bloodshed in Israel and the occupation of Iraq by our own military. But there are many other forms of terrorism that occur right here in our own country and communities.

When I think of terrorism I think of people like Matthew Shepard, Steven Goedereis, Brandon Teena, Charlie Howard, just to name a few, who were brutally murdered because of who they were. This is a form of terrorism.

When I hear people praising Hitler and the Nazis, encouraging the "white race" to fight back and kill all those who don't fit the "aryan theology", this is terrorism.

When people like Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Rush Limbaugh, etc attack and demonize gays and lesbians, women, Bill and Hilary Clinton, and so on, this is terrorism.

Domestic violence and sexual assault, these are also forms of terrorism.

When I read about the thousands of gay youths who endure endless harassment at school, resulting in the too high rate of suicides, this is terrorism.

Forget about the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking on a new role as Governor-elect of California: The Deregulator.

One of Schwarzenegger's first political moves as the state's chief executive will be an effort to push the state's electricity market closer toward deregulation, a move halted by Gov. Gray Davis two years ago in the wake of California's energy crisis. Schwarzenegger, while on the campaign trail, blamed Davis for his handling of the energy crisis.

Schwarzennegger drafted a comprehensive energy policy, which can be found at www.joinarnold.com/en/agenda/#C1,

that went unnoticed for much of his campaign during the recall election. He said he wants to eliminate public oversight on future power supply contracts the state signs with energy companies and adopt a design plan for deregulating California's electricity market from other states that restructured its electricity markets, such as Texas, New Jersey and Maryland.

Dear Mr. Wasserman:

I am sorry to correct you, but the "IV" in "IV Reich" is already taken. You must be refering to the "V Reich" in your article about the Bush-Rove-Schwarzenegger melange.

When you have illegal invasions, anexations, racist biased policy, ethnical cleansing, colonial wars and the like, there is no need to trace any association with the former III Reich, the likeness is already striking. The North American-Israeli Empire more than deserves the title of IV Reich.

I want to apologize for two things and two things only and that is for my use of hostility and profanity. I thought about it after I cooled down and realized that was not very professional of me. My views stay carved in stone however, especially after yesterdays victory for the people of California. A Republican Governor in California, whoa that's weird. Next will other historically Democratic states follow like Florida, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Arkansas, etc.? Oops, never mind, they already did. Sorry again for the the cursing and the hostility yesterday. Go Arnold!!!
Dear Mr. Rove:

I write to ask you to resign from the White House staff. Recent press reports   have indicated that, while you may or may not have been the source of the Robert   Novak column which revealed the status and name of a covert operative, the wife   of Ambassador Joseph Wilson, you were involved in a subsequent effort to push   this classified information to other reporters and give it even wider currency.

This itself may be a federal crime, but regardless of that fact, your actions   are morally indefensible.

In my view, it is shameful and unethical that an Administration that promised to   govern with "honor and integrity" and "change the tone" in Washington has now   engaged in an orchestrated campaign to smear and intimidate truth-telling   critics, placing them in possible physical harm and impairing the efforts and   operations of the CIA.

Recent reports indicate that you told the journalist, Chris Matthews, and   perhaps others, that Mr. Wilson's wife and her undercover status were "fair   game." Evan Thomas and Michael Isikoff, Newsweek, Oct. 13, 2003. Since these
Like Bill Clinton, George Bush seems to have some Teflon -like qualities. It is unlikely that the leaker of the info on Joe Wilson's wife's CIA connection will be identified. But as Bush and his bumbling team of lying incompetents continues to thrash, like Godzilla, through the assets and resources of the USA, knocking them down, destroying them, and creating chaos, the right wing is becoming and will become even more desperate. Here's a list of some desperate acts we can expect the far right and their legislative stooges to take:

-more Texas and Colorado style gerrymandering

-Florida and Georgia style vote and voter roll list corruption

-dirt slinging and accusations (like Paula Jones) just as Gray Davis used on Arnold, who clearly, was guilty.

-distraction tactics, including:

a.. Iran or Syria war
b.. Inflammation of N. Korean situation, probably started by heightened polemic
c.. announcements of arrests of terrorists
d.. orange alerts
e.. Roe Vs. Wade abortion fight
f.. Church vs. State skirmishes like the 10 commandments in the Courthouse
California awoke one morning to find itself governed by a giant cockroach. It's official: we are now living inside a Kafka novel-though even Kafka couldn't have predicted the turn of events that would bring us to this point. To be fair, Schwarzenegger is not a hyper-violent, frozen, misogynist, monosyllabic robot. He just plays one onscreen. In reality, he is-well, by now we all know who he is.

The frightening part is that the people of California knew, too. There is some indication that tracking polls showed his support slipping in the wake of all last week's revelations. Polls are tricky things, of course, but if this is true then the election happened just in time. The republicans have become adept at cherrypicking such opportunities and milking them for all they're worth.

The thing to remember is that things are much worse on a national scale. I'm not sure if it makes it easier or more difficult to get out of bed to remind ourselves that no matter what happened in California, war criminals still skulk around the White House, and crimes against humanity continue in our name all over the world. A cornered dog may be a
AUSTIN, Texas -- Not that any of us is in a position to criticize the Great Scriptwriter in the Sky, but don't you think She's been going a little heavy on the irony lately?

All those folks who had conniption fits over Bill Clinton's affair are now pooh-poohing Arnold Schwarzenegger's sexual misconduct -- and vice versa. The right-wingers who are always griping about Hollywood stars who express political opinions -- "Shut Up and Sing" -- suddenly find an actor perfectly fit for high political office based on his experience as The Terminator.

Professional patriots who would have been screaming with horror had the Clinton White House ever leaked the name of an undercover CIA agent now struggle to justify or minimize such a thing.

President Bush has spent $300 million trying to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and come up with zip, so now he wants to spend $600 million more. And let's mention the president's interesting theory that NOT finding any weapons of mass destruction means the Iraq war was fully justified. (Hello?)
