This Nov 4, Columbus Mayor Ginther is betting that you won’t read the ballot when voting on the 1.9 BILLION DOLLAR BOND ISSUE. All of the Opportunity City Political Action Committee mailings and commercials CLAIM that it won’t raise your taxes by a single penny. That’s true… because it’s a lot more.
Bond Issue 5 - $27 per $100,000
Bond Issue 6 - $27 per $100,000
Bond Issue 7 - $45 per $100,000
Bond Issue 8 - $49 per $100,000
Bond Issue 9 - $42 per $100,000
$190 total for each $100,000 in home value
Mayor Ginther’s golf partners want MORE OF YOUR TAX DOLLARS so they can buy another condo in Aspen. His wealthy friends, like the Haslams, LOVE FREE MONEY from Columbus tax payers who will foot the bill for cheap “affordable housing.” They get cash grants to pay for new apartments that they can raise rents on every year and become even more rich. THIS ISN’T ABOUT CHARITY. This is pure greed disguised as helping the middle class of Columbus.
Why wasn’t this done in Phase 1 of Zone-In?
Because they wanted expensive hi-rise buildings for the rich more than anything else (makes them more money).
Why won’t any of this “affordable housing” be built using a Green Building Code to address Climate Change?
They don’t believe in Climate Change unless it means making more money for themselves.
How will “Affordable Housing” be placed in the City Master Plan?
Columbus has no master plan. The “Affordable Housing” will be placed where they can make the most money; not where it makes the most sense. As always, none of the actual details have been shared; how it will be done is a SECRET known only to Mayor Ginther and his closest golf buddies.
Why weren’t citizen groups involved in crafting the bond issues?
Everything was planned behind “closed doors” just like Phase 1 of ZoneIn. They think you’re stupid and only need our tax dollars to pay for their financial dreams. Notice how the Bond issues were only “rolled out” to the public one month before the vote? That gives you less time to decide and gives them an advantage in advertising.
Don’t believe the thousands of dollars being spent by the wealthy real estate developers to convince you otherwise. READ THE BALLOT ISSUE with your own eyes and make the decision that’s best for the FUTURE OF COLUMBUS. The wealthy developers and real estate investors DON’T CARE ABOUT OUR FUTURE. THEY ONLY CARE about their next luxury condo in Aspen.
This is how “progress” is made in Columbus; with a huge advertising campaign and a strategy that will only benefit the rich and wealthy. WE DESERVE BETTER LEADERSHIP. Think before you vote.
