Sample ballot

I love Chinese food, but I have standards. What if there was a Chinese restaurant a mile away and rated 2 stars? NOT A CHANCE. No matter how hungry I might be, it’s worth it to drive farther for better Chinese food.

Why then, do we KEEP SETTLING FOR LESS? Recently, Columbus City Schools were rated overall as a TWO-STAR SCHOOL DISTRICT by the State of Ohio.

The Columbus City School Board has three Board of Education positions open for election this November 4. Every election we keep voting for the approved Franklin County Democratic Party (FCDP) “endorsed candidates.” And for all of our loyalty, our schools earn TWO STARS. No, it’s not the fault of the teachers or the students. It’s a MONOPOLY OF FAILED LEADERSHIP.

Politicians and education don’t mix

Just like oil and water, the FCDP has no business choosing who should lead Columbus City Schools (CCS). Columbus needs community leaders outside of the “status quo” who are only concerned with student success. Need a quick example of NEPOTISM? One “endorsed candidate” is the son-in-law of popular Senator Sherrod Brown. Does that make him more qualified than others? Of course not, but it helps put more Democrats into the CCS MINOR LEAGUE.

CCS Minor League

Just like in baseball, Columbus City Council has a MINOR LEAGUE TEAM and it’s the CCS School Board. STEP 1: Try to get chosen by FCDP Chair Michael Sexton as an “officially endorsed candidate” (the party never holds a primary). Automatically get elected. STEP 2: Do little to nothing while on the CCS School Board. STEP 3: Chair Sexton decides whether you’re OBEDIENT ENOUGH to run for City Council.

If you’re better than average at following directions you might even be allowed to become Mayor of Columbus. Our pro-golfer, international traveling, part-time Mayor proved his worth with a short stint on our School Board and then City Council.

CCS Board of Education has nothing to do with making the difficult decisions to create the best school district in the state. The job of many board members is to bide their time before moving on to their next political position. That’s the CCS MINOR LEAGUE MONOPOLY and we can only blame ourselves for keeping it running.

Obey the Golden Rule

Worst yet is the GOLDEN RULE of Franklin County Democrats. That rule being that DEMOCRATS NEVER QUESTION OTHER DEMOCRATS. In the “real world” every member of the CCS School Board (with parents and students) would be attending City Council meetings to PROTEST AGAINST the Democrats who have gifted over a hundred million dollars a year to businesses in property tax cuts – taxes that would should have gone to our public schools.

But nobody says a thing. Not a single question against those cuts to public education because the GOLDEN RULE must always be followed. City Council cutting funding for public education; that’s Columbus following the GOLDEN RULE.

Expecting different?

Some say that stupidity is doing the same thing but expecting different results.

We always vote for the “endorsed candidates,” even when they happen to be 22 years old without experience. We’ve always trusted FCDP Chair

Sexton to choose the best and to NEVER HOLD A PRIMARY for candidates. His best isn’t good enough anymore for Columbus.

Accept the fact that the goal of the FCDP isn’t to find the best to serve on the CCS School Board. THE GOAL is to maintain total power over decisions within the county and city.

The FCDP needs you to SUSPEND REALITY and keep doing what you’ve always done.

They need your TOTAL LOYALTY, but not your questions or input. Your dedication to the status quo is how they continue their “one party rule” over the county and city. This year my neighbors and I will be voting for everyone WHO ISN’T ENDORSED by the FCDP because we believe our kids deserve more than two stars. We believe the future of Columbus is more important than blind loyalty.

This Nov. 4th most people in Columbus won’t vote.

Most people are just trying to make sense of the world and have enough groceries in the refrigerator. So, if you actually decide to vote, be prepared to have a “sample ballot” shoved into your hands on the way into the polling place. Maybe this year you’ll stop being satisfied with TWO-STARS and the failing monopoly of power. Just say, “No thank you” to the sample ballot. If they look surprised, just remind them that you know how to think for yourself.
