On July 19th, 2016 in Toms River, New Jersey, a 65-year-old mother named Kathy Larson passed away in her sleep due to complications of diabetes -- something that did not have to happen. Her son, comedian Ed Larson (producer of Bumping Mics, writer on Historical Roasts and Comedy Central Roasts) was pissed off and wanted answers.

He enlisted investigative journalist and filmmaker Travis Irvine (director of Hail Yourself, America! and Killer Raccoons! 2! Dark Christmas in the Dark) to help him tell the story. Ed took the insurance money and made this movie, but it's not so much a dark comedy as it is a lite tragedy. Whether it’s insurance companies, predatory banks, casinos, Donald Trump or Ed’s own estranged father, Ed confronts them all in a search for answers. Ed realized that his story is not unique, which is exactly why he felt the need to tell it. Being poor in America should NOT be a death sentence and this shouldn’t happen to anyone else.

But for some reason, no one in the United States of America wants to help or be nice until it’s too late. Featuring Comedy Central’s Jeff Ross (Ed’s cousin), Sen. Chris Murphy, Trae Crowder and Drew Morgan (WellRed Comedy), Gov. Gary Johnson and Pat Dabroski (Ed’s aunt,) as well as The Roundtable of Gentlemen and The Brighter Side podcasts. Remember to call your moms!
