In response to a lack of experience of current choices
On Friday May 15th, Joe Motil, longtime community activist and past candidate for Columbus City Council and State Representative announced today that he filed paperwork with the Franklin County Board of Elections as an official write-in candidate for the office of Columbus City Council.
Mr. Motil will be running in the race for the unexpired term which is currently being served by the recently appointed Shannon Hardin. Motil states that, “there is still hope for progressive minded voters to bring change to our city government”. Motil further claims “I will clearly demonstrate to Columbus voters that my 30 years of community involvement, activism, volunteer efforts and life experience is needed at such a critical time to provide promise and opportunity to all Columbus citizens”. “My campaign will focus on my continued efforts to establish a minimum wage of $11.00 per hour for the working poor of Columbus, implementing policies & technology for a more representative city government, help to create a civilian oversight agency for law enforcement, work hard to provide good paying jobs and fight for fairness & equality when distributing our city expenditures and granting of tax abatements”. As the “senior candidate” for the City Council races, Motil will present many more important ideas for a better Columbus leading up to the November election.
