We will no longer wait for the “right time." We will not wait for justice. We demand equality now! The Women’s March on Washington third anniversary will be held on January 19th, 2019, all while recognizing the actual anniversary is on the honorary Dr. Martin Luther King Day. We will never forget civil rights leaders who came before us, whose shoulders we stand on and those who fought for freedom and liberation of all people.

Black and brown women were not permitted to march alongside leaders of the suffrage movement. However, today we celebrate in unity and solidarity, together centering those who are most vulnerable among us. We will not go back, nor will we allow justice to be delayed! Now, is the time for us to come together and lean in until every oppressive system is disrupted.

“We know through painful experience that freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed. Frankly, I have yet to engage in a direct action campaign that was “well timed” in the view of those who have not suffered unduly from the disease of segregation. For years now I have heard the word “Wait!” It rings in the ear of every Negro with piercing familiarity. This “Wait” has almost always meant “Never.” We must come to see, with one of our distinguished jurists, that “justice too long delayed is justice denied.” –Dr. Martin Luther King
