Columbus Ohio

Wednesday, September 29, 2021, 12:00 PM
Last November, our community voted for Columbus to switch to 100% renewable energy. Over the next few years, Columbus will pursue that goal for our homes and small businesses. On September 29, join the Ohio Environmental Council Emerging Leaders, Simply Living, and Ready for 100 - Columbus to learn about the progress of Clean Energy Columbus, opportunities for further advocacy, and potential roadblocks facing us in our fight for equitable climate policy in our city. The timing couldn't be more critical. In August, the IPCC released a new report emphasizing the urgency of climate action. A new ballot initiative we will vote on this November could threaten the future of the city’s renewable energy initiatives and other city services. If we want to ensure Columbus stays on a path toward 100% renewable energy in our effort to fight climate change, we need all hands on deck. At the event, you’ll hear from Erin Beck, Assistant Director with Sustainable Columbus, who’ll share all of the work Clean Energy Columbus has been doing this year to fulfill the promise of 100% renewable energy we voted for last year. Then, Cathy Cowan Becker from Simply Living, Rachel Wagner from Ready For 100 - Columbus, and the OEC Emerging Leaders team will discuss the upcoming bad ballot initiative facing voters in November, and why it threatens the current efforts in our city. Come ready to learn and ready to take action in the fight for 100% renewable energy and against the climate crisis. Register here
