Join guest presenter Doug Morris for commentary and an evening of songs by Joe Hill, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, and Bruce Springsteen. Songs and commentaries (and projected lyrics to assist in sing-along) about six towering figures of "people's music."

Joe Hill (IWW) might be considered the first great composer of "people's music" in the U.S. and inspired all who followed. Woody Guthrie is perhaps the greatest and most prolific composer of "people's music" in U.S. history and influenced tens of thousands of musicians over the decades, especially Dylan, who in turn influenced and inspired Kristofferson and Springsteen.  Some serious songs, some humorous songs, some love songs, and some protest songs. Doug Morris (Ph.D., Penn State) teaches in the world of critical pedagogy at West Chester University. He is a former jazz guitarist, a singer, a composer, and a performer of "people's songs." Dr. Morris has written about Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, and others in the tradition of "people's music.”
