By now you’ve seen the November 4 election results. Some good decisions, but some truly bad decisions as well. Of course, there’s Councilmember Remy who has been accused of not treating his legislative aides with the respect they deserve; but still got re-elected. Why? Because WE DIDN’T HAVE A CHOICE.
The inappropriate behavior by Remy is a SYMPTOM OF THE REAL PROBLEM.
Hardin will treat the symptom the only way he knows how by 1. IGNORING IT (tried and failed), 2. Calling his wife to beg for her help (tried and failed), and 3. Paying a CASH SETTLEMENT to the aides he mistreated using OUR TAX DOLLARS.
No punishment for Remy, but the voters get punished by forcing us to re-elect him. Hardin will solve the SYMPTOM instead of curing the PROBLEM. And what is the actual problem?
Columbus City Council has chosen to GERRYMANDER every election to favor the CHOSEN DEMOCRAT with their fake “hybrid district” system. The entire City chooses each member of City Council INSTEAD OF the people she/he is supposed to serve. What a creative way to destroy local democracy in Columbus. And until Columbus moves to an HONEST WARD system (like other large cities) we will continue to be forced to accept flawed and broken candidates such as Remy. You should FEEL SAD for him. He doesn’t have enough empathy to treat women with respect; and he probably never will. Hardin wanted a Real Estate professional on City Council to charm the “Development Gods” who own Columbus. Instead, he got a SELFISH “public servant.” And all of the time and effort wasted on solving this SYMPTOM could have been spent on his life-long dream to BECOME MAYOR.
Bring an HONEST WARD system to Columbus before our city continues to lose our democracy one election at a time.
This reminds us of our favorite pro-golfer / international travel expert Mayor Ginther who ordered his legislative aide to work for his re-election campaign. She sued the city and with the LEGAL BLESSING of Klein walked away with over a HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS of our tax dollars. No punishment for the Mayor. Again, the SYMPTOM was solved instead of the PROBLEM.
