You are invited to a Meet and Greet with Morgan Harper, Democratic Candidate for the United States Senate, which is the seat being vacated by Rob Portman. The first challenge will be the primary where Ms. Harper will run against Tim Ryan, who is endorsed by the conservative side of the Ohio Democratic Party. This is her story.

My name is Morgan Harper and I am a consumer protection attorney, community organizer, and candidate to represent all of Ohio in the United States Senate in 2022.

My story is Ohio’s story.

I was born at The Ohio State University Hospital. For the first nine months of my life, I lived in a foster home before being adopted and raised on the east side of Columbus by a Public Schools teacher. My mother, an immigrant from Trinidad, supported me and my brother while facing constant financial stress throughout our childhood having gone through a bitter divorce. I received financial aid with help from the Ron Brown Scholar Program to graduate from Tufts (BA), Princeton (MA) and Stanford (JD). I went on to clerk at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, worked as a paralegal at the Federal Trade Commission and served as a Senior Advisor at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) under the Obama Administration protecting consumers against predatory corporations.

Most recently, I was Director of Policy & Advocacy at the American Economic Liberties Project, a non-profit fighting to break up corporate monopolies, and where I testified before Congress on the unchecked power of Big Tech. I am also the co-founder of Columbus Stand Up! a grassroots community organization that mobilized volunteers across Central Ohio in response to the pandemic going door to door delivering 30,000 masks, driving voters to polls during the 2020 election and transporting hundreds of people to their Covid-19 vaccine appointments.

I’m running to represent Ohio in the U.S. Senate to get political and economic power back on the side of working people.

The Morgan Harper campaign will require you to wear a mask upon entering.  The venue, Jimmy Vi's in Grandview, serves food and drink so you can remove it; but I will ask that you be generally respectful of the optics if no one is wearing a mask, not to mention disrespectful of others.
