Scioto River
COSI Columbus' Dynamic Hands-On Science Center!, Green Columbus, and Keep Columbus Beautiful are joining forces alongside many local organizations and corporations such as Accenture, NiSource, The Nature Conservancy, the Ohio Environmental Council, Sierra Club and many more to clean the Scioto River within the I-270 loop at 8 sites in just one day!
Volunteers from across Central Ohio—including individuals, families, and organizations—are welcome to jump in and take part! Visit sciotosweep.org, sign up to take part in one of our 8 sites, and join us on Saturday to pick up litter and keep our river clean! Trash bags and cleanup tools will be provided. Online donations will be accepted.
This effort is being undertaken in part to celebrate the opening of Unseen Oceans, an exhibit opening at COSI on October 19, 2019. The Sweep will engage and educate Central Ohioans about the importance of our local watersheds and rivers and the impact they have on the world’s oceans.
All volunteers who participate in the Scioto Sweep will be invited to a special celebration of the clean-up at the opening of Unseen Oceans on Saturday, October 19, and will be among the first to see the new exhibition.
Visit sciotosweep.org to learn more and register to volunteer!
