Vigil in Honor of Forcibly Sterilized ICE Detainees
Friday, Sept 25, 3-6pm
Faceboook Event
Leveque Tower Residences & LVQ Apartments, Front and West Broad
Just last week, whistleblower Dawn Wooten spoke out about about forced sterilizations and hysterectomies happening to people being detained by ICE. Though the initial complaint was about a specific doctor in Georgia, the full extent of these forced sterilizations is still unfolding. Forced sterilization of WOC has a long history in America - this is a direct, violent, racist attack on reproductive justice, bodily autonomy, and human rights.
Join us for a vigil in honor of the many, many migrant women, men, non-binary & trans folks, and children harmed by the violent and racist treatment of ICE. They deserve to freedom from reproductive violence and all other forms of violence. Masks are required at this event! Bring signs and candles. Meet us at 2:30 to make signs if you can't bring your own.
Candlelight Vigil for Breonna Taylor
Friday, Sept 25, 7:30pm
Ohio Statehouse
Facebook Event
Friday night we will gather at the Statehouse for a peaceful candlelight vigil to honor Breonna Taylor.
This will NOT be a protest, but a celebration of her life through song, poetry, speeches and a memorial.
**Please wear black and bring flameless/battery operated candles for safety. They can be found at Dollar Tree. We will have some extras.**
I am bringing a 36" x 36" painting of her and sharpie markers so we can write short messages for her. Feel free to bring flowers, cards, handwritten notes to add to her memorial.
As always, wear masks, social distance, keep the peace and look out for each other.
