Sunday, June 29, 4pm, Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave.
From the 1960’s into this New Millenium, Peter, Paul and Mary used music to entertain and energize Americans to work for a better world. Now, some veteran Columbus musicians will pay tribute to Peter, Paul and Mary’s legacy with songs, memories, and quips.
Bill Cohen, Joanne Blum, and Joe Lambert will sing and strum the most beloved songs that Peter, Paul and Mary seared into the hearts and minds of so many people for decades. Among them: “If I Had a Hammer,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “Where Have All the Flowers Gone,” “Jet Plane,” and “Day is Done.”
Heidi White will enhance the music with her stand-up bass.
The concert will also recall key parts of Peter, Paul and Mary’s history, plus some fun trivia questions about the endearing trio will test the audience’s memory.
The tribute concert will take place at Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave. Free parking will be available on nearby streets and in lots owned by the North Broadway Methodist Church. $15 donations per person are suggested at the door. The musicians and sound crew will split the donations with a worthy cause: the Clintonville Community Resource Center, which helps low-income, homeless, and older residents of the area.
Hosted by Bill Cohen Sings.
