Rollicking Celtic songs and thoughtful story-telling Americana/Appalachian songs will fill the air Saturday, November 19, as the band called The Pints hit the stage at the latest monthly concert sponsored by the Columbus Folk Music Society.

The show takes place at the Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave.

Although Irish music and Appalachian music are distinct musical genres, band leader Ed Tatum notes that they share several plusses: “catchy tunes, with clever lyrics and good humor, as well as poignant songs of love, loss, and betrayal.” He says that the fact that Irish and Scottish immigrants to the U.S. first came to Pennsylvania and then moved throughout Appalachia may explain some similarities, and they will resonate at the concert.

The Pints take the stage at 8pm but come earlier for other activities.

At 6pm, an informal folk music jam will be held where you can listen or participate!

At 7pm, the coffeehouse will feature an open mic segment for three different folkie acts.

At 7:45pm, as a warm-up for the main concert, the audience will join in a folk music sing-along that always sparks a warm feeling of community.

A donation of $15 at the door is suggested; $10 for Columbus Folk Music Society members.
