Tuesday, November 29, 9:30am-3:30pm, Trinity Episcopal Church on Capitol Square, 125 E. Broad St.

After the November election is over, the Ohio General Assembly will return to Columbus for about six weeks to finish up their business for the two-year session.

In partnership with the Ohio Council of Churches, we will convene an advocacy day on November 29, 9:30am-3:30pm, for people of faith and good conscience to come to the Statehouse to talk with policymakers on issues such as how to transform our criminal justice system, food security, and strengthening our schools.

Advocacy in Advent:

As people of faith, we are called to strengthen our community through mercy, justice, and humility. In the final weeks of the year, the Ohio General Assembly will be busy with activity that could greatly strengthen or hurt our communities.

We need them to know that we support policies that will:

• Create economic opportunity for all Ohioans, especially those struggling to put food on the table.

• Transform our criminal justice system, so that we may see justice done for all Ohioans.

• Strengthen schools for all of Ohio’s children, because a child’s future should not be determined by the Zip Code in which they live.

Schedule:

9:30-10am: Gather and prepare

10-10:30am: Issue overview and speakers

10:30am-3pm: Legislative meetings will be set up throughout the day. Individual group schedules will be provided at the church when you are assigned to your team for the day. Boxed lunches will be available for pickup.

3-3:30pm: Closing reflection and debrief

Pre-Registration is required to help us reach out to your legislative leaders and let them know you’re coming!

Hosted by Ohio Council of Churches and Hunger Network in Ohio.
