The Columbus chapter of the international grassroots advocacy group Citizens’ Climate Lobby has launched a monthly speaker series, “Ales and Climate Tales,” that will feature local scientists and experts on environmental issues. The fourth presentation of this series will be held Wednesday, March 9, 6pm, at the Mikey’s Late Night Slice upstairs event space, 457 N. High St.
Allison Chartrand of the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center will be presenting on her work on ice shelves, how they are impacted by subglacial and sub-ice shelf topographic and meltwater flow, and the role that climate plays in ice research.
“This opportunity to share my research and to spread knowledge on climate change is great! I thank Citizens’ Climate Lobby Columbus for all of their work in this space,” Allison Chartrand says.
“Ales and Climate Tales” will normally take place monthly at various breweries around Columbus. All events will be open to the public.
“Providing venues for people to educate themselves on climate change, with the help of the experts, is a great way to make change happen,” says Donny Murray, co-leader of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby Columbus chapter. “Having a beer at a local brewery while doing it is a nice added bonus.”
