“Andy Baker Concert Shows the Power of The Singer/Songwriter,” hosted by Columbus Folk Music Society
Saturday, March 23, 8pm, Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave.
With just a guitar, his voice, and his original songs, Andy Baker can prompt you to cry one minute and chuckle the next. And the Michigan-based singer/songwriter will demonstrate that inspiring power on Saturday, March 23, as he performs as the featured act at the latest monthly coffeehouse concert sponsored by the Columbus Folk Music Society.
Andy has won national acclaim and awards for his unique songs that reflect on the tragedies and triumphs of our lives. One touching song is about a teenage relative battling cancer as she contemplates attending her high school prom. Another song stars a pilot who’s been hired to write messages in the sky like “I’m sorry.”
Andy takes the stage at 8pm on March 23 at the Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave. but the audience is invited to come earlier for other fun activities: a 6pm informal jam, a 7pm open mic segment with three other acts, and a 7:45pm audience sing-along.
$15 per person donations are suggested at the door; $10 for Columbus Folk Music Society members. Free parking is plentiful along Oakland Park Ave. and in nearby lots owned by North Broadway Methodist Church.
Hosted by Columbus Folk Music Society.
