In commemoration of Genocide Awareness Month during the month of April, the Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission will host Loung Ung, author and child survivor of the 1975 Cambodian genocide, to share her life experience through a presentation and a Q&A session.
Loung Ung was five when Khmer Rouge soldiers forced her family from their home during a mass evacuation. By 1978, the regime had killed her parents and two siblings, and she was trained as a child soldier before being reunited with her living family after the war.
