As we exit Black History Month and enter Women’s History Month, this panel will center on the lived experiences of Black transgender women as they engage with the healthcare system. Moderated by and featuring Black trans women, the discussion will highlight both the unique challenges and the strategies for navigating healthcare with resilience and empowerment. The goal is to uplift voices, share practical insights, and provide a platform for conversation around improving access, care, and support for Black transgender women in healthcare settings.
Since 2021, the Patient Empowerment Series has highlighted the health experiences of LGBTQ+ community members, focusing on intersectional perspectives. Presented collaboratively by Equitas Health Institute and Stonewall Columbus, the Patient Empowerment Series is intended to amplify important issues and to empower participants to advocate for themselves and their communities.
