The Union of Concerned Scientists invites you to a virtual Climate Week event featuring scientists, activists, and frontline leaders engaged with the “Summer of Heat on Wall Street” campaign, which is pressuring Big Banks to stop financing fossil fuel expansion, respect human rights, and invest in a clean energy future.

Join this important movement with insight and actions we all can take!

In June, more than 750 scientists wrote to the executives of Citi highlighting the urgency of the climate crisis and calling on the bank to stop financing fossil fuel expansion, respect human rights and Indigenous sovereignty, and invest in a “clean energy” future. According to the 2024 Banking on Climate Chaos report, Citi is the second largest financier of fossil fuels and the largest financier of fossil fuel expansion since the Paris climate agreement.

Since then, activists with the “Summer of Heat on Wall Street” campaign have organized peaceful actions to pressure Citi to take the climate crisis seriously. Citi and the New York Police Department have responded with aggressive repression tactics and brushed aside the evidence provided by scientists and frontline community leaders about the impacts of their actions.

After this virtual event, you will leave with action items to participate in this powerful and growing movement for climate justice!
