As, each day, we face the news of climate chaos, political warfare, species extinction, and ecological and social suffering, we are asked to reconcile these collective traumas with all that is breaking in our hearts. It is natural in our time to feel despair, overwhelm, burnout, and grief. We invite you to this space of rest, communion, and renewal.
As we feel the promise and pressures of this time and our desire to sustain our revolutionary work, we must also learn tools for honoring and transforming our grief, anger, paralysis, and fear into compassionate connection with our world and communities, feeling our place in the web of life, and motivation to act on behalf of life on earth. Climate anxiety and ecological despair are real, they are on behalf of a world desperate for our collaboration in remembering dignity and grace. It is here that we nourish our compass for the times ahead.
And for all this, we have resources.
Lydia Violet specializes in the “Work That Reconnects” (WTR), a framework and set of practices developed by Joanna Macy, a scholar, environmental activist, and Buddhist practitioner. This work offers a practical and integrative approach to personal and collective transformation that aims to address the ecological and social challenges facing humanity. It provides a supportive space for individuals to explore and express their emotions about the state of the world, while also fostering a sense of connection and empowerment.
Bailey Fullwiler brings with her eight years of social work practice supporting individuals and communities with a focus on grief and resilience, working directly with frontline environmental organizers to navigate climate emotions, and a background in teaching trauma-informed yoga. She brings practices of mindfulness, inter-being connection (human-nature connection/human-other than human-animal connection), and grieving nature.
Lydia and Bailey’s rich and vibrant collaboration will offer a wealth of tools for navigating and reconciling our current planetary moment, helping participants feel more grounded and integrated in their work and lives.
