St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, 695 E. Long St., will present the “Film Noir Theatre,” a six-week series of African Americans in cinema, beginning Friday, January 24.
Each Friday, there will be a double feature, two films written by, produced by and/or directed by African Americans. Before the screening, there will be a brief introduction and vintage cartoons. The films will be shown on consecutive Fridays in the annex of St. Paul, 628 E. Long St., beginning Friday, January 24. The Annex is directly across the street from the church.
Doors open at 5:30pm; show time is at 6pm; admission and parking are free. Hot dogs, popcorn, pop and hot chocolate will be available for purchase.
Everyone is welcome; however, in general, these films are not for children under the age of 14.

1-24-2025: “The Birth of a Nation” (1915) and “Black Klansman” (1966)
1-31-2025: “The Birth of a Nation” (2016) and “Harriet” (2019)
2-7-2025: “The Emperor Jones” (1933) and “Voodoo Macbeth” (2021)
2-14-2025: “BlackkKlansman” (2018) and “Judas and the Black Messiah” (2021)
2-21-2025: “The Butler” (2013) and “Green Book” (2018)
2-28-2025: “Black Panther” (2018) and “Wakanda Forever” (2022)
Founded in 1823, St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church is the oldest African American church in Columbus. It has been at its current location since 1905; the Rev. Dr. Morne E. Meyer is the senior pastor.
