Saturday, April 23, 10am, 1905 Rea Ave.

Come out and help us plant 350 trees!

This is the largest undeveloped land adjacent to downtown with 42 forested acres. Located in the South Hilltop neighborhood, this area has been historically neglected and used as an illegal dump site. Over the past six years, volunteers have been working to remove litter, plant trees, and eliminate invasives. On site is a small wetland that serves as a resting area for waterfowl along a fly-over migratory route between Scioto Audubon Metro Park and Green Lawn Cemetery. The long-term goal is to keep the land undeveloped to create a vibrant space for wildlife to thrive and for humans to explore.

Please dress appropriately, dress in layers and prepare for inclement weather, and wear toe-covering boots/shoes and/or items you don’t mind getting dirty. Work gloves will be provided, but please bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. Kids are welcome to attend and help with tree planting or litter clean-up. We may run short on tools; if you have a shovel or litter grabber, please bring it with you!

Plenty of parking is available along Rea Ave.
