The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions [BDS] movement at age seventeen has proved to be so successful that the Israel lobby and other anti-BDS forces have pushed state legislatures and the federal government to enact anti-boycott laws. Ohio is one of those states that has limited constitutionally protected free speech.
In support of Israeli Apartheid Week, the Ohio Free Speech Coalition will present a panel discussion, “How the Israeli Government and Anti-BDS Forces Threaten Free Speech in Ohio” with award-winning speakers and authors Dr. Nahida Halaby Gordon, professor emerita at Case Western Reserve University and Dr. Mazin Qumsiyeh, professor at Bethlehem and Birzeit Universities in Occupied Palestine. Other panelists include Ohioans Terry Lodge, civil rights and environmental activist and attorney, and Eric Resnick, member of the Ohio Free Speech Coalition and Jewish Voice For Peace Cleveland.
