“Inhale/Exhale” is a healing space for organizers in the progressive and left space.

As organizers, we often feel a cognitive dissonance with knowing the ills of the world and needing to experience joy and happiness. Finding joy and happiness is important for the wellbeing of our ecosystem. This Inhale/Exhale,” we will focus on happiness and joy. What does happiness look like to you? Has it been harder to find happiness with so much stress everywhere? Come to March’s “Inhale/Exhale” to discuss ways to up your happiness game, guilt free!

Please join Dr. Kynetta Sugar McFarlane (she/her), a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of working with traumatized families and the owner of Transformative Health, on ways to find balance. Social justice work is beautiful and hard. Creating intentional spaces to recharge and uplifting the power of the breath via meditation is not only important, but necessary.

Dr. Kynetta McFarlane, Psy.D., (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in the psychology field. She is the creator/owner of Transformative Health, LLC, providing trauma-informed and affirmative services. Dr. McFarlane holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Africana Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master’s of Arts, and a Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Clinical Psychology, Washington, DC at Argosy University. She is an expert in the assessment and treatment of trauma and gender diversity in children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. McFarlane has spoken throughout Ohio and to international audiences on issues related to trauma, culture, and gender diversity. Dr. McFarlane is the Systems of Care, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator for the Center of Innovative Practices at Case Western Reserve University and is an expert on the Project ECHO Team for multisystem youth at Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Dr. McFarlane was raised in Washington. DC. She is half first-generation American and started working on her advanced degrees as the single parent of a 2-year-old. As a person who experienced trauma as a child and who understands how stress can affect functioning, Dr. McFarlane believes in using a strength-based, trauma-focused approach that respects a person’s voice and culture.
