Saturday, May 18, 11am-3pm, Sunny Glen Garden, 3507 Sunny Glen Pl.
This year’s native plant sale focuses on “Gardening for Moths and their Caterpillars,” which also means we are inviting and supporting songbirds and other wildlife that depend on them! These essential creatures have been left out as many of them come out at night when it’s dark — a survival strategy, but we may miss seeing them. It’s time that Moths are featured as we continue to find ways to increase the biodiversity for healthy ecosystems by enticing moths and caterpillars into our home landscapes.
The Sunny Glen Garden Native Plant Sale will be held on location at 3507 Sunny Glen Place. Meet KC, the “Mothman” who will bring live moths and caterpillars that have come out so you can experience these beautiful creatures first-hand.
These are Ohio-sourced, native plants, grown organically in small plugs and some larger pots. “Like” our event so that you can be notified of the Native Plant list coming soon.
Your native plants will be transferred out of their plastic pots into paper pots made from recycled newspapers by volunteers, and labels from recycled cottage cheese containers by the kids in 4H Far East Club. Please bring a container, box, or laundry basket to take the plants home.
You can use your Franklin Soil Conservation Districts Community Backyard $50.00 rebate towards your native plant purchase (does not include sales tax).
Then head over to the Urban Farm Church, where several other vendors, Sweetfire Nursery, Sunbury Urban Farm, and Columbus Garden School, will allow you to shop plants to your delight!
Hosted by Sunny Glen Garden.
