Saturday, January 14, 10-11:45am, this on-line event requires advance registration
Speakers:
• Dr. Gillian Goobie, M.D., PhD, FRCPC [Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians], Clinical Assistant Professor, Division of Respiratory Medicine, University of British Columbia
“Some people with these lung diseases have an expected lifespan from diagnosis to death of only a few years, and yet it’s a mystery as to why they developed the disease, why their lungs become so scarred. Our study points to air pollution — specifically pollutants from factories and vehicles — as potentially driving faster disease progression and premature death in these patients.”
• Ted Auch, PhD, “The Health Effects of Fracking and Fracking Waste, Using Fracking Waste on our Roads”
Dr. Auch’s interests include topics such as environmental justice, ecosystem services, watershed resilience, and landscape alteration(s). He is Adjunct Faculty, Department of Biology at John Carroll University in Cleveland. He is associated with FracTracker Alliance as Great Lakes Program Director.
