Minimum parking requirements have become a major barrier to walkable communities. By mandating vast areas of parking for every building, these codes encourage sprawling development, necessitate more driving, create hostile walking environments, and increase transportation-related carbon emissions, among other health, safety, economic, and environmental impacts.
Minnesota has become a national leader in parking reform. Join Minnesota State Senator Omar Fateh, Legislative Assistant Chris Meyer (Minnesota), and Tony Jordan, President of the Parking Reform Network, along with City of Costa Mesa [California] Council Member and America Walks Board Member, Arlis Reynolds, and America Walks State and Local Program Director Ian Thomas, for an informational webinar on June 5 at 2pm.
