Saturday, May 15, 3pm, Sharon Woods Metro Park, 6911 Cleveland Ave.

Some of the best things we can do in the face of growing fascism and racism are support the most marginalized in material ways, build community connections, and show white supremacists that we will not be silent in the face of their violence.

On Saturday, May 15, at 3pm, we will be gathering at Sharon Woods Metro Park for the purpose of keeping our communities safe and supported in tangible ways, learning more in our continual journeys of anti-racism, and building meaningful community amongst people who are committed to anti-racism.

This event will be BYOP [Bring Your Own Picnic]!Bring some food and a blanket if you wish and space yourselves out in a COVID-safe way.

If you do not have food, Food Not Bombs Central Ohio will be there to make sure that everyone will have the opportunity to eat.

We will have experienced anti-racists on hand who will move among small picnic groups to answer questions and provide educational materials.

This event is being planned primarily by white individuals who are dedicated and experienced in anti-racist action, taking into account input from Black and brown people.

There is always a risk of violence from racists or police at an anti-racism event; please be prepared and informed.

Though there is a safety plan for this event, bringing small children is not recommended.

If you have any accessibility needs, please reach out to <antiracistinfo614@gmail.com> or leave a request on this event’s Facebook event page by May 10; we will work on securing appropriate accommodations to meet your needs.

Hosted by Picnic With My Family and Showing Up for Racial Justice [SURJ] Columbus, Ohio.
