Cash bail, also known as money bond, effectively creates a two-tiered system of justice in which people who can afford their release go home to their families, and those without financial resources are forced to unnecessarily suffer behind bars. This system doesn’t promote public safety; it simply allows some people to buy their release, regardless of what threat they may pose. Bail reform is needed to end the practice of wealth-based detention, bring Ohio’s courts into compliance with the United States Constitution, save public funds, and truly promote public safety.

Join the Portage County NAACP, the ACLU of Ohio, and community leaders for a community panel to end Ohio’s reliance on cash bail and incarceration. Hear critical reflections around the impact of pre-trial detention, updates on statewide legislation, and opportunities to let your voice be heard. This event is free and open to the public. Zoom registration is required.
