Wednesday, May 18, 5:30-8:30pm, beginning and ending at Genoa Park, 303 W. Broad St.

The Ride of Silence is back for 2022! This is the 20th year for the Ride of Silence. We have a new start location! We will gather at Genoa Park along Washington Blvd. Restrooms will be available at the park; Washington Blvd. will be closed to traffic 4-8 pm.

This year, we will be reading the names of the 73 cyclists who were killed on Ohio roads in 2019 (24), 2020 (21) and 2021 (28).

With this annual ride — a short, slow, and silent processional — hundreds of Central Ohio cyclists will join an international movement to honor cyclists killed or injured while riding on public roadways and raise awareness that cyclists have a legal right to the road. The ride will be a short, slow, and silent funeral-style processional that will attract hundreds of cyclists from all corners of our community.

Helmets are required! Trek will have a SAG vehicle on site should you need any last minute assistance with your bike. But please make sure to look it over a few days prior to the ride to ensure it’s in good working order.

Riders will begin gathering at 5:30pm. There will be a short program, including a reading of the 73 names, at 6:30pm. The ride will roll at 7pm. It will be a 10-mile route that should take about one hour to complete.

There is no cost to participate, but we do ask you to register for safety and planning purposes.

Donations are greatly appreciated! Costs to have this event are approximately $2,000. All donations and proceeds from the sale of T-shirts will be used exclusively for the current and future Ride of Silence events in Columbus.

If you’re driving to the event, we suggest that you park on streets near COSI, the Columbus Commons Parking Garage, or Scioto Audubon Metro Park and ride your bike to Genoa Park.
