Please join us in a conversation with Dr. Angana Chatterji of University of California, Berkley and Dr. Audrey Truschke of Rutgers University as they discuss the rise of right-wing Hindu nationalism in India and now its growing impact and influence on the U.S. through the Indian diaspora in the U.S. and mechanisms of the Modi government in India.

Angana P. Chatterji, PhD, is the Founding Co-Chair, Political Conflict, Gender and People’s Rights Initiative at the Center for Race and Gender at University of California, Berkeley. She has offered expert testimony at the United Nations, the European Parliament, the United Kingdom Parliament, and the United States Congress, and has been variously acknowledged and awarded for her work. Her recent publications include BREAKING WORLDS: Religion, Law, and Nationalism in Majoritarian India; and Majoritarian State: How Hindu Nationalism is Changing India.

Audrey Truschke, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of South Asian History at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. Her research focuses on the cultural, imperial, and intellectual history of medieval and early modern India as well as the politics of history in modern times. She is the author of three books and is currently working on a single-volume history of India with the support of a National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholars grant.
