Thursday, November 9, 6-8pm, this on-line event requires advance registration

The rise of social media has allowed for more movement participants and activists to connect and generate solidarity across the globe. Since the early days of Twitter and its use in the Arab Spring and Occupy movement, we have seen the power of connection. Increased connection and the ability to spread revolutionary dreams of a better world hasn’t gone unnoticed by the state, who have adapted their surveillance and law enforcement tactics with the times. In addition to state actors, there has been a rise in corporate baddies wielding social media platforms to their own nefarious ends and fascists doxing and harassing leftists.

As the adage says, with great power comes great responsibility. At CLDC we recognize that social media has a role to play in resistance. We want you to understand how the government and corporate bodies try to limit dissent, use social platforms to infiltrate movement spaces, and give you practical tools to protect yourselves and others.

Join Lauren Regan and Glencora Borradaile on Wednesday, November 9 at 6pm to build your resilience to those repressive tactics.

Registration for CLDC online events is always free, but we do require registration. Register here.
