Wednesday, July 17, 7-9pm, Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 7 W. Henderson Rd.

Rev. Irene Scaramazza, a female Roman Catholic priest, will be presiding at our St. Mary Magdala Mass celebration in honor of the first apostle.

Because the 1964 Civil Rights Act exempted churches from its prohibitions of discrimination, all Christian churches are a battleground in the struggles for women’s equality. Most Christian churches practice male superiority. All Catholic, all Orthodox, and half of Protestant churches exclude women from ordained ministry. Protestant churches that ordain women continue to struggle with women’s discrimination. Irene and other members of Roman Catholic Women Priests are participants in the equality struggles taking place in all Christian churches.

Equality is integral to Jesus’ request that we “Love one another.” Stand up for equality in our church. Participate in this Mass. You’ll be glad you did. Bring a friend.

Hosted by Call To Action Columbus, the Columbus chapter of a national organization of Roman Catholics who are working together to foster peace and justice in our world, our church, and ourselves. Call To Action is the country’s largest church reform organization.
