Tuesday, April 19, 12noon-12:45pm, outside of Chase Bank Tower, 100 E. Broad St.

This Passover, Jewish communities together with interfaith and climate justice allies across the country are calling on seven big financial institutions to stop investing in fossil fuel extraction and invest more in renewable energy.

Central Ohio Jews for Justice [COJJ] is helping to organize an event in Columbus outside the Chase Bank Tower in downtown Columbus.

Fossil fuel companies depend on financial institutions like Chase to keep extracting the coal, oil, and methane gas that is driving the climate crisis. Just a handful of big banks and asset managers provide most of the money that keeps the fossil fuel industry afloat. While they put out statements that they want to reach carbon neutrality, their actions tell a different story. Chase alone pumped more than $316 billion into the fossil fuel industry from 2016 to 2020!

Through songs and stories, we will respectfully but urgently demand that Chase make good on its promises and stop investing in fossil fuels.
