Tuesday, December 13, 8am, Ohio Department of Education, 25 S. Front St.

LGB — and especially T — students need our help! On Tuesday, December 13, the Ohio State Board of Education will vote on whether to adopt or reject the dangerous anti-trans resolution, which has been the topic of discussion for four consecutive board meetings.

This resolution will put LGBTQ+ students (particularly trans and non-binary students) at increased risk of harm, and it unlawfully seeks to skirt the requirements of Title IX.

Join us on Tuesday to protest this dangerous resolution. We will be meeting outside of the building with trans flags and signs of support.

About the Resolution:

• Opposes recent changes to Title IX regulations, released by the U.S. Department of Education on June 23, 2022

• Sides with a lawsuit filed by Ohio Attorney General David Yost and 21 other state attorneys general opposing rules connecting federal nutrition funds to the adoption of Title IX sexual discrimination policies

• Encourages Ohio schools to interpret Title IX to exclude trans students

• Asks the State to provide stopgap funding to schools not complying with recent Title IX regulations

• Requires Ohio schools to report student identities, alternative names, and pronouns to families regardless of possible risk for youth

• Prohibits trans youth in sports and school facilities

• Repeats harmful stereotypes

• Claims to want all students to “flourish”

E-mail your written testimony to <Alex.Goodman@Education.Ohio.gov> and <SBOE@Education.Ohio.gov> by 5pm, Sunday, December 11, 2022.
