Transforming international trade policy is an important part of the Green New Deal, but many economic and environmental justice activists don’t have a firm understanding of exactly how today’s trade deals limit and constrain commonsense climate regulations and worker protections.

Currently, these deals are written largely by and for powerful corporations, and prioritize their profits over the needs of the planet and of workers across the globe.

The incoming Biden-Harris administration is promising action on trade, jobs and climate, but we’re going to need an educated activist base to counter pushback from powerful industry players to ensure real progress.
