Tuesday, August 24, 7pm, Wild Goose Creative, 188 McDowell St.
It’s our Two-Year Anniversary! This month, please join us on Tuesday, August 24, at 7pm, for our first in person event since February 2019! We encourage all our vaccinated siblings, family, and allies to come out and see us in the new Wild Goose Creative space in Franklinton. For those who are not vaccinated, or who are still steering clear of “live” events for the time being, we will also be incorporating a YouTube livestream of this event.
After living through a terrifying four years under the Trump presidency, and over 16 months of a global pandemic, healing and recovery have been a vital necessity for our society as a whole. Healing and recovery can include community outreach, self-development and care, exploring interests, revisiting hobbies, and creative development. What do healing and recovery mean to you? What are some things you’ve learned, and what do you hope for the future?
And at long last, after our speakers, we will be opening the floor for some “open mic” action, as well as having some community hangout time just before and after the event.
For August, our amazing speakers will be sharing their stories: their personal viewpoints on the exploration of healing and recovery.
What is “Trans-Talks”?
“Trans Talks,” or “T” Talks, is an inclusive, intersectional, free, monthly storytelling event for and by the transgender community founded and led by Felicia DeRosa in partnership with Wild Goose Creative. “T” talks seeks to undermine and disarm the discrimination, oppression, and violence towards trans-identified people: socially, politically, and culturally. Monthly topics have included sexuality, body image, family, gratitude, and more. By sharing stories with the rest of the queer/ally young professional community, and, especially, those who are outside the trans/queer community, this program hopes to dismantle the ignorance and stigma surrounding what it means to be Trans.
As with other “T-talks events,” this will be recorded and shared across social media as an informative and educational resource for friends, families, and allies.
This season’s “T-Talks” is presented by CoverMyMeds, the Tom E. Daily Foundation, and the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
Hosted by Wild Goose Creative and Felicia DeRosa.
