Recent events in the U.S. and Canada have called into question the Indian government’s transnational repression of the Sikh community in North America. Attempts to assassinate Sikh Canadians and Sikh Americans in the countries of their citizenship have arisen. This conversation will educate attendees on this escalating trend and how right-wing Hindu nationalism in India is being used as a justification for this repression.
Opening Remarks: Stephen Schneck, Commissioner, United States Commission on International Religious Freedom
