Thursday, January 21, 4-5pm, this on-line event requires advance registration

Please join the American Foreign and Military Policy Research Cluster as they welcome Jeffrey Trimble, lecturer in OSU’s School of Communication and Department of Political Science, to discuss the challenges facing U.S. government-funded international media — a historic pillar of U.S. global public diplomacy — in the era of disinformation.

Trimble, who served during two decades in senior roles including Acting President of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) and Deputy Director of the federal agency that oversees U.S. international media, will outline the unique roles of the Voice of America, RFE/RL and the other U.S. international media outlets in America’s “soft power” efforts to respond to the increasingly sophisticated, well-funded array of technology-enabled, information-based threats from Russia, China, Iran, ISIS and other foreign actors.

Reading materials [links to these documents are below] will be discussed and may be reviewed in advance.
