Saturday, April 29, 4-5pm, Columbus Metropolitan Library [Rm. 2-B], 96 S. Grant Ave.

Join us as we hear from Rank The Vote Ohio and discuss the ideas behind the popular election reform movement for ranked choice voting.

Ranked Choice Voting is an alternative voting method that would allow voters to rank their preferred candidates according to their preferences. In a ranked choice voting system, voters rank their preferred candidates as first, second, third, and so on.

When the votes are counted, if a candidate receives a majority of first-choice votes, they win the election. However, if no candidate receives a majority of first-choice votes, the candidate with the fewest first-choice votes is eliminated, and the second-choice votes of those who preferred the eliminated candidate are redistributed to the remaining candidates.

This process continues until one candidate receives a majority of the votes. The movement behind Ranked Choice Voting is growing fast, and the system has even been adopted in parts of the country, such as New York City, for their local primary elections.
