#4forFairFood: We’re saying that it’s time to put these universities’ principles into action.
Join us on International Women’s Day, March 8, at 12noon; the march will begin at 1pm; at Goodale Park, 120 W. Goodale St.; we will march to Bricker Hall [on the OSU campus], 190 N. Oval Mall.
Between March 2 and March 14, farmworkers from Immokalee, Florida, will travel across the country to four of the country’s top public universities — the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, The Ohio State University in Columbus, and the University of Florida in Gainesville — to join students and community members in calling on these institutions to end their relationships with Wendy’s until that fast-food giant has joined the award-winning Fair Food Program. Young people, community leaders, and farmworkers are calling for a national boycott of this hamburger chain, demanding that, instead of cheap “4 for $4” deals, that Wendy’s put human rights on the menu.
The time is now for universities and their administrative leaders to have responsibility and send a clear unequivocal message to Wendy’s: until they put human rights on the menu, they cannot sell food on our campus.
