Sunday, July 5, 12noon-3pm, Franklin Park Amphitheater [northwest of the Franklin Park Adventure Center], 1755 E. Broad St.

This event is to honor, celebrate, and amplify the voices of black women and the black LGBTQ+ community! My name is Rachel Thurman, and some other students and I have put together this event. The event will not only be a space to raise awareness about the ongoing fight for black lives in the United States, but also a place where we will have performances of all kinds to express the thoughts and experiences of black women/members of the LGBTQ+ community. We will have speakers and performers from a multitude of backgrounds to help spread the important message: Black Lives Matter!

We will meet at the Franklin Park Amphitheater which is located next to the Franklin Park Adventure Center, 1755 E. Broad St., at 12noon on Sunday, July 5.

Please remember that we are also still dealing with COVID-19! Wear a mask and be cautious with social distancing!! Thank you!

It is important that we take time to remember that the lives of black women and black members of the LGBTQ+ community matter! And it is also important to amplify black voices in any way possible! We hope that this event will be a wonderful celebration of voices that can be shared.

We have also been raising money for two great organizations that can benefit the black LGBTQ+ community: The LGBTQ Freedom Fund and the Marsha P. Johnson Institute. We have passed our original goal, but these initiatives deserve so much more! Check out the gofundme link for more information. Any kind of donation, or sharing the link, would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any interest or know of anyone who may be interested in speaking or performing at our event, please send us an email at <amplifytheirvoices2020@gmail.com>.

We hope to see you all there.

Hosted by Rachel Thurman.
