Saturday, November 6, beginning at 12:45pm in the parking lot at 144 N. Fourth St.
The movement for “Medicare for All” will continue in Columbus with a car caravan that will be dedicated to encouraging Congressional Representative Joyce Beatty to again become a cosponsor of H.R. 1976, “Medicare for All,” this Saturday, November 6.
We will be gathering, from 12noon to 12:45pm, in a parking lot on N. Fourth St., between E. Long St. and E. Spring St., and across the street from Pins Mechanical Co. Set your GPS for “144 N. Fourth St.” and look for the “Medicare for All” signs at the entrance.
There will be brief announcements at 12:45pm; we will be rolling at 1pm. The route is not yet finalized but will be about two miles long.
We will have a “Medicare for All” sign for each car; you may bring your own as well. Plan to tape your sign to a car door, the hood, or on the back.
This event is the idea, initiative, and sponsored by National Nurses United, a nurses’ union which has been a long-time proponent of “Medicare for All.” Nurses know, first-hand, the financial hardship that their patients endure. SPAN [Single Payer Action Network] Ohio is a partner in this action.
National Nurses United is funding the use of the parking lot — and an ad in The Columbus Dispatch on Thursday, November 4 — and a towed billboard to lead the caravan. This event is also being duplicated on the same day in three other cities where Congressional Representatives were also “Medicare for All” cosponsors in 2018 but have not signed on in this term.
