Wednesday, September 20, 12noon, this on-line event requires advance registration

During the last two decades, we have seen a sharp rise, globally, in industry-funded research — in medicine, food science, and technology. We also know that industry funding can bias research in myriad ways, even when the research conducted is methodologically rigorous and researchers are transparent about their funding sources and conflicts of interest. This panel will discuss what individual researchers and the research community can and should do to mitigate against potential bias and to maximize the social value of their research.

Panelists:

• Lisa Bero, PhD, Chief Scientist, Center for Bioethics and Humanities, University of Colorado [Anschutz]

• Micah Berman, J.D., Associate Professor, College of Public Health and Michael E. Moritz College of Law, OSU

• Thomas Woods, PhD, Assistant Professor, Political Science, OSU
