Tuesday, June 5, 6-9pm, Columbus State Community College [Delaware Hall], 499 Grove St.
Come out for a community screening of the award-winning documentary MAJOR!, which chronicles the life-long activism of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy. The film will be followed by a panel discussion, featuring SPECIAL GUEST Miss Major herself, who will join the conversation via Skype.
Miss Major Griffin-Gracy has been fighting for the rights of Black trans women for over 40 years. A formerly incarcerated veteran of the Stonewall riots — part of Pride’s radical legacy — Miss Major continues her work today as part of the Transgender Gender Variant Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP).
Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to learn from an extraordinary activist, community leader, and elder! All ages are welcome at this event and families are encouraged. Food will be provided before the screening begins so arrive early!
Visual ASL Interpreters will be provided for all Community Pride events. Please contact the interpreter coordinators at cbuscommunityprideinterpreters@gmail.com to request close vision or tactile interpreters for all Community Pride events.
This event is part of a series of celebrations called Columbus Community Pride. Stonewall Columbus’ Pride isn’t safe for LGBTQIA+ people of color so we created Columbus Community Pride to bring Pride back to its radical roots and to support all people. Learn more at columbuscommunitypride.org and follow each event on our Google calendar at tinyurl.com/yckopfy2 and the full “Columbus Community Pride 2018: Back to Our Roots” Facebook event.
Community Pride is a safer space; we will not tolerate racism, transphobia, homophobia or any other form of hate or discrimination.
Hosted by Columbus Black International Film Festival and Black Queer and Intersectional Columbus [BQIC].
In conjunction with Columbus Community Pride 2018: Back to Our Roots.
