“Tiananmen Mission” is a historical film about the true China and its people through 1989 Tiananmen Student Movement. It promotes courage, dignity, and freedom, through a young man — one of the student leaders during the 1989 student movement in Tiananmen Square. Zhan Jiang, a 17-year-old, survived three bullets during the massacre, and had been in hiding for 16 years when we recorded his story. His personal account about the massacre and China is one of the most authentic Chinese narratives, and his moving journey to freedom is a great inspirational history for generations.
An in-person question-and-answer period with filmmaker Lillian Zheng (The Middle Land) will follow this screening.
This screening is open to the public; conference registration is not required.
In conjunction with Association for Asian Studies Annual Conference.
