Saturday, July 23, 3-5:30pm, Columbus Metropolitan Library, 96 S. Grant Ave.

Last year, Columbus Citizens for Police Review [CCPR] started a campaign to establish a civilian review board over the Columbus Police Department through a ballot initiative. Though in the end we fell under our required number of signatures, that has not stopped the movement for police reform and revolution.

This year, we are not only focused on changing policing policy through the regular channels, but what we are the most excited about is the possibility of building a movement that can replace the old model of policing entirely.

On July 23, we will propose strategies for the development of community-based responses to violence that do not rely on the criminal justice system but can only be achieved with the people behind it.

Immediately after the “New Vision for Policing” presentation, we will conduct a hands on “Cop Watch” training exercise for members of the community. The training will consist of knowing your rights of filming, consequences, do’s/ don’ts, and utilizing the latest technology to reliably monitor police.

We hope to see you there!
